Pump Tests
All water taken for stock and irrigation purposes are subject to resource consent through your Regional Council. As part of the resource consent process, pumping tests need to be carried out. They are the constant rate and step drawdown tests followed by a recovery test and on-going water well monitoring.
This process helps to establish a sustainable water take and will determine the type and size of pump that is needed.
Wanganui Well Drillers Ltd has a range Pleuger submersible pumps, with orifice meters and water meters, matching column pipe, power cable, and generating capacity to undertake required the pump tests to Regional Council standards.

Resource Consent changes
On November 20 2010 the Resource Management (Measurement and Reporting of Water Takes) Regulations 2010 came into effect.
This applies to resource consents allowing fresh water to be taken at a rate of five litres per second or more.
This is managed by water meter that has a +/- 5 percent accuracy, installed in an approved manner.
The deadline for Compliance depends on your allowed rate of take:
If consent was granted on or after 10 November 2010, you need to comply with the regulation straight away
20 litres per second or more, no later than 10 November 2012
10 litres per second up to 20 litres per second, no later than the 10 November 2014
5 litres per second up to 10 litres per second, no later than 10 November 2016
